Continuing conversations for learners in assistive and adaptive technology classes within the School of Education

Students with ED is climbing in numbers. The reality is we are changing and children are testing their persuasiveness. The horrors of emotional abuse is now comming to light more today. Years ago parents were the kings and queens of the family today children now dominate that role. Today kids have more unsupervised time and family secrets are comming to light because of awareness. Dealing with the stress of being a child can give you two choices either get help and move on or lash out and lose control. Exposure and awareness is in demand to assist with what goes through our minds. some will survive but some become affected emotionally and it hampens their way of life. We as teachers need to know our students background even if at times we too become frustrated. They look to us as something good in their lives. Keep letting them know that you care they need to be nurtured and love its as simple as that.
Hafa Adai Lenith,
You did a great job! Thank you for the educational and resourceful information on behavior disorders. I am presently working with a student with ED. The presentation has prepared me with an understanding and awareness of this specific disability. I have collaborated with the team of teachers and the paraprofessional on valuable information as well as sharing positive strategies on managing and decreasing some of the behaviors the child has exhibited. You are a true warrior for our children with unique needs!
